By Stormy the Dog.

I’ve been away for a week to the Lake District with my family and my best friend Mya and her Dad.
I was so excited when we got in the car with the luggage. But after travelling for what seemed like weeks, I was getting fed up. I’d been told that I was going to see Mya.
We stopped at some noisy places on the way so I could have a drink and a wee. And my family went off to get some food for themselves.

After what seemed like months moving across the country, we finally arrived at the lodge that we’d booked. It was called Blackthorn Copse in Water Edge Mill.
There was a key-safe and a small porch with a shelf and hooks by the front door.
I didn’t realise how nice it was though until Mya arrived.
Mya and I had been left treats and a water bowl by the owner. And our Humans found a tray in the lounge with a Local-made cake, Kendal Cake, which is a delicious crumbly sweet, and some apple juice. In the kitchen was sugar, tea bags, coffee sachets and some coffee pods for the coffee machine. And a Welcome message.
The area we stayed in had loads of walks and wee/poo areas. On the first day we went on a walk just outside our lodge, up a mountain.

Mya and I were admiring the views while the Humans complained about the rain and how much I was pulling on the lead. Well I was excited!
Every day we did plenty of exploring and walked over 10,000 steps.

The next day we went up another mountain, Orrest Head, with panoramic views.
While the Humans were too busy complaining about how puffed out they were, I tried to be the first in the group to get to the top.
That evening I lay fast asleep on the sofa next to Mya while the Humans decided which film to watch.

The next day I was rudely interrupted from my sleep to find that we were going up another mountain called Rydal Water. This time there were much better views of crystal-clear lakes and even snowy mountains!
There was a cave called Rydal Cave full of shallow water which I pulled Mum through.

At the end of the day Mya and I annoyed Mum and her friend by pulling them quickly down the mountain.
As you probably guessed, Mya and I fell fast asleep in the evening while the Humans watched another film. The Lodge sofas are very comfy.

On Wednesday we went to a giant waterfall called Stock Ghyll Face near Lake Windemere.
After that, we went to a dog friendly vegan café called Chesters, which is by the river.
On Thursday we went on a train.

There are three stations and when we arrived at Lakeside, the final one, we walked for a mile to Newby Bridge Station, which is the stop between Haverthwaite and Lakeside.
Did I mention that dogs go free on the train and the Humans’ tickets are quite cheap?
As we got to Newby Bridge Station, Mum announced that she had stupidly got the train timings wrong so we would have to wait there for over an hour!
So we had to walk back to Lakeside.

After all that walking the Humans decided to pop into the train station café that was right next to Lake Windemere for a drink and some chips.
As they brought nothing back for me I decided to look as sad as possible so that I could have a chip. And it worked.
Finally on Friday, which was our last day, we went on another local walk which was five miles!
It was right next to the River Leven that flows a few steps away from our Lodge.
As soon as we got back, Mya and I slurped lots of water and collapsed on the sofa.
The Humans had a cup of tea and enjoyed a Chinese take-away from not far away from the Lodge.
I have to say, the journey home was very upsetting so I put on my sad face And then fell asleep as I waited for my wee/poo break.
The Lodge we stayed in was one of nine at Wateredge Mill Lodges.
It was very peaceful there, with great access to the Lakes.
The Lake District area is very dog friendly indeed and I really enjoyed my week there.
