Stormy’s Adventures; Trip to Hoburne Blue Anchor, Somerset.

By Stormy the Dog

Me on the Steam Train

We set out in Mum’s car very early on Monday morning. I thought we were going to the woods so I got all excited. After a long journey, I realised we weren’t, so I fell asleep.

Mum said we were going to see my friend Mya, but there was no sign of her several hours later.

We pawsed for a quick look at Stonehenge, then we stopped for a couple of hours at a National Trust place called Stourhead. There were lots of places to sniff and explore, and I met lots of other dogs. But there were no bins around the gardens for litter or poo bags.

I slept some more while we continued our journey.

Our Caravan

Eventually we arrived at the Holiday Park. I could go anywhere, including the Café and Reception.

They also had an enclosed area where dogs can run around safely.

Mum was impressed at how clean the Park was. (No poo.) There were lost of poo bins around.

Mya and her Dad arrived later on and we greeted each other.

At night there was lots of wildlife to chase. We saw rabbits and a hedgehog, which is rare nowadays. And we heard owls.

Hellwell Bay Fossil Beach

During our holiday we visited the little Coastal town of Watchett, and we went to the Hellwell Bay Fossil Beach where the Humans saw fossils embedded in rocks.

Another day, we went to Dunster, which is a small town full of history. It’s worth spending a day there.

We walked over the Galloz Bridge, which is a Medieval carting bridge.

Then it’s a 4 mile walk uphill to Bats Castle, which is an Iron Age Fort.

It was a hard trek, but worth it for the lovely views.

Batts Castle

On Thursday, I had my first trip on an old steam train, The West Somerset Railway which goes to Minehead where we walked on the beach. I paid £3.50 to travel on the train and it made me sleepy.

Minehead Beach

Our caravan was dog friendly with a lovely view of the sea.

Mya and I were dog tired every evening after lots of walking in the day so we snuggled up while the Humans watched TV.

All the areas we visited were dog friendly and clean. Many shops had  bowls of water outside.

Beaches have dog friendly areas and many of the pubs and cafes welcomed us with treats.

Tired Dogs

The Jubilee Café in Minehead was especially welcoming on a rainy day. We left on Friday and I slept all the way home.
