Halloumi Japanese Style.

By Lyn Funnell

Halloumi is a useful addition to your food supplies. Known as Squeaky Cheese, it doesn’t melt when it’s cooked, and it squeaks when you bite it!

Everybody likes Halloumi and I’m always being asked to produce more recipes.

The Halloumi I use is produced in the High Weald Dairy at Horsted Keynes in Sussex.

Mix a handful of plain flour with a tblsp of sesame seeds.

Beat 1 egg in a bowl.

Cut the Halloumi into thick squares. Dip them in egg, then in the flour.

Heat some olive oil in a non-stick frying pan. Fry the Halloumi until golden, turning them after 2 minutes.

Lift them onto a plate and drizzle with honey and lemon juice.

You can sprinkle them with oregano and chilli flakes, but I didn’t bother.

I took the plate over to my neighbours who are Halloumi fans and they declared it Delicious!

They are a great nibble and ideal for parties!
