Visit to Ightham Mote

By Bella Schembri-Adams

Right in the middle of the countryside in Sevenoaks, Kent is Ightham Mote house and Garden.

This 700-year-old manor house has 70 rooms, many that are explored by crowds of people every day.

It is surrounded by acres of woodland walks, and many species of birds and fish can be seen in and around the original moat.

There is a large Medieval house across from the manor house where workers on the land and in the manor would stay.

In every room in the manor house there is a long paragraph about the history of that room, and stories from hundreds of years ago.

In one room there is a big box full of dressing-up clothes so you can dress in the fashions of the past.

Ightham Mote is a great family destination for a day out with hours of exploring.

There is café, picnic areas and a shop.

It is owned by the National Trust and there is plenty of parking. Each parking space is clearly marked by thin logs.
