A SUSSEX charity supporting people with learning disabilities has received £6000 from The Morrisons Foundation to fund a new sensory room.
The Foundation aids charities which make a positive difference in local communities, and now it is helping SASBAH and the JPK Project, based in Church Street, Old Town, Eastbourne.
SASBAH is the Sussex Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, supporting more than 1000 families and individuals across the county,
Twelve months ago it moved into new premises at the JPK Project Training Centre – and the sensory room will be created upstairs in the building.
Rom Sanglaji, SASBAH CEO, said: “First, everyone involved with the charity wants to say a massive thank you to Morrisons.
“We have a very special relationship with Kim, the local Morrisons Community Champion, who has supported us for a number of years.
“This new sensory room, provided with this funding, will create vital support for the people who come to SASBAH and the JPK Project.
“Individuals feeling anxious or needing time on their own to calm down or just relax can go up to the room and just chill.
“These rooms offer a safe environment where users can engage with various sensory stimuli to help them self-regulate, manage stress and improve focus.”

Rom said: “The room will include a number of special features, including lights, water features and other tactile equipment, and it will be a fantastic addition to what we offer here.”
Kim Hatcher-Davies, Community Champion for Morrisons Eastbourne, loves working with the SASBAH family.
