Back to the Bay Side, Pevensey Bay

By Lyn Funnell

I have eaten in the Bay Side Diner several times when I’ve been in the area, and its high quality and low prices always amaze me.

Last week my friend Wendy and I went there for a meal.

I had a bacon and onion pudding with six fresh vegetables surrounding it – all for £10.50!

Wendy had a generous portion of fresh salmon with vegetables; again for £10.50!

The bacon and onion pudding was made in the kitchen. And the vegetables were freshly cooked, not microwaved. And they weren’t soggy either.

Amber, the waitress, remembered us from our previous visit. I watched her serving the other customers.  Nothing’s too much bother for her.

Eavesdropping on the customers when I go there, a lot of them are regulars. And if I lived nearer, I would be one as well.

Everything’s clean, fresh and one of my favourite places to eat.

Once I had a stirfry there and it was one of the tastiest stirfries I’ve ever had. But they don’t do it any more and I wish they would!

The family who own it are from Sri Lanka and they can cook British food better than a lot of British pubs and restaurants can, and for a much lower price!

I highly recommend it.
