Muntjac Deer Visits Our Home

By Lyn Funnell

We had a little visitor this morning.

He stayed in our front garden for over half an hour.

It was a dear little Muntjac Deer.

A Dear Deer! See what I did then?!

He wasn’t the least bit scared of us as he kept staring through our French windows.

Then he ate some of our roses, and the leaves too!

Muntjac Deer are a light brown, then they turn grey in the winter.

Our visitor was still brown.

I thought he might like some lettuce to eat. But when I tried to open the door, he immediately dashed away, with high leaps in the air.

It was lovely to see him and I don’t know how he got onto our Park. He must have passed a lot of other homes to get to us.

He could have leaped over the fence, of course.

I do hope he comes to visit us again. I don’t mind sacrificing our roses. They’ll grow again.

And it’s well worth it to see such a beautiful creature!
