No Power for 50 Hours

It is thunderstorms season here in Botha’s Hill.

Since we moved here in 1992, a power outage during a thunderstorm was almost guaranteed.

We immediately installed gas cooker and used gas camping lights and candles.

Fast forward 23 years and a storm put a local substation out of action.

Back to the candle making – I still save loo roll inners for this !

The pictures tell the story.

I had to learn how to use the generator for a couple of hours at a time to keep the fridges going and charge batteries.

Otherwise I went to sleep as it got dark and woke up with the birds !!

All is now restored – til next time!

My Sussex Grandad had a dynamo light on his bike, I wonder if you can still get them?
