Team Pevensey Bay Climb Snowdon

Four members of staff at Pevensey Bay Holiday Park have climbed Mount Snowdon to raise funds for charity.
It was a lovely summer March day, it took around four and a half hours – but, in the words of Retail Manager Matthew Rushe, ‘we achieved.’
Matt, 50, was joined by Christina Rudko, Accommodation Manager, Sammie Smith, Holiday Service Manager, and Isobel Jeive, Bar Supervisor.
They absolutely loved the experience, raising money for three Sussex charities at the same time.
Matt said: “It was the first time we had done anything like this, and after three hours we reached what we thought was the top.
“We came across some expert walkers who told us we had another hour and a half to go, which was a bit dispiriting at the time.
“It was very steep and at times we were right by the edge. We had no guides – we were on our own. We loved it but it was very challenging.
“You have a choice of six paths at the start and we thought we had chosen a medium one in terms of challenge. In fact, we had chosen the hardest.”
Christina said the view were absolutely stunning.
She said: “The water falls and lakes were amazing. There was so much to see and we are lucky to have experienced that.
“Incredibly, there were no cuts or bruises afterwards. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for us all.”
They decided to climb Mount Snowdon after what Matt described as a number of mental health challenges.
He said: “Like so many, we’ve felt the weight of it all and longed for a way to reset, find clarity, and focus on what truly matters.
This climb wasn’t just about reaching the summit – it was about showing that even after a difficult year, we could rise, give back, and find strength in community.
Matt said when he came to work and said he was planning to climb Snowdon, his colleagues laughed, but they soon realised that he was serious.
