Widow Twankey is running Sunday’s Brighton Half Marathon in full make-up, wig & frock!

Brighton’s favourite Panto Dame, who takes to the stage every Christmas, is embarking on a different challenge – running Sunday’s Brighton Half Marathon in full make-up, wig and frock!
David Hill will be dressed as Widow Twankey from the Brighton Family Panto production of Aladdin this year and will even attempt a couple of costume changes during the run.
He can’t wait for the big day.
David said: “Last June I embarked on a very personal weight loss and fitness journey.
“This has been very important to me. I finally picked up my running shoes again and I have lost four stone so far.
“It hasn’t always been easy, but I have felt a real sense of achievement, so I decided to do something out of my comfort zone, and as one of the previous organisers, the Brighton Half Marathon seemed the obvious choice.
“It’s also very much a personal mission for me as I will be raising funds for a charity close to my heart, The Sussex Beacon, which does such important work in our wonderful city.”
David is probably best known for producing, directing, and starring in the successful Brighton Family Panto every year at the Hilton Brighton Metropole.
He’s also heavily involved in local charities and is a Trustee for The Focus Foundation, a Patron for Chailey Heritage, and an Ambassador for Raystede.
David will be part of Team Beacon – the name of the team of fundraisers who take part in the Brighton Half Marathon and other events throughout the year for The Sussex Beacon. He will be running with other well-known faces like Olly Alexander.
He said: “Sunday is a big day for me. Please give me a wave and cheer if you see me, you won’t be able to miss me!
“More importantly, please sponsor me if you can so I can raise as much as possible for this incredible charity.”
