A visit to the Arlington Bluebell Walk and Farm Trails is a wonderful way to forget the world’s troubles.
That was my experience when I paid a recent visit to enjoy the beauty, tranquility and enchantment provided at Bates Green Farm, Tyle Hill Road, Arlington, East Sussex.

It remains open until Sunday, May 10th, from 10 am until 5 pm, though the last entry to the woods is usually slightly earlier.
Since 1972, the Arlington Bluebell Walk and Farm Trail has developed into five delightful walks over two working farms whilst helping to raise money for local charities.
The main Blue Walk, which is about 2/3 mile long, provides breathtaking views of bluebells that seem to go on forever.

One walk through Beatons Wood, where you see white anemones among the vistas of bluebells, has been made suitable for wheelchair users. There are also mobility scooters available to use for free.
Tickets can be purchased on arrival at £9 for adults, with children (3-16 years) £4.50, and a family ticket is £23.
I also enjoyed refreshments, which are available daily in the Bluebell Barn, provided by a different local charity each day.

Arlington’s John McCutchan was one of the five winners of the 2026 Times Stemberg Active Life Awards.
John, now 89, was nominated for the work he has done, since turning 70, with the Arlington Bluebells Walk and Farm Trail. He has helped charities raise more than £1 million over the past 53 years.
