My hair has always been my ‘trademark’.
I have had long hair most of my adult life.
In the 2010s I got a bee in my bonnet to see how long it would grow, and, for a while it was long and luxurious !!
It got a bit scraggy at the ends, so I had it cut to ‘bra’ length where it has remained pretty much since.
Fast forward to May 2023 when my beloved John died. Because of the grief and trauma, my hair came out in brush loads and was thinning and out of condition.
I knew my hair would never be the same, but read up on many herbal things to do to at least restore it to a better condition.
Now, I have a regime. I don’t wash it as regularly, to allow the natural oils, which diminish with age, to work. I have a true bristle brush to brush it morning and night, and a few times in between in this hot weather to get it up and off my neck !!
Every now and then I will pour the remains of the real coffee pot – strained of course – over my hair before rinsing.
My treatment of choice, once or twice a month is geranium leaf, for strength,

and rosemary, for softness and regrowth.

I made sure to have both growing in the garden, so when I need those herbs I can go out and pick them fresh.

I put them in a pot with water to cover then bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. When it has cooled down, I squeeze out the herbs.

I do not wash the hair first as I want the herb mixture to penetrate the hair, so I pour it on and leave it without rinsing.

On a good day, I can dry it in the sun,

otherwise I’ll just towel it as much as I can and leave it to dry on it’s own.

Luckily these treatments seem to be working and, although I know I will never have my thick locks back again, at least what I have is in good enough condititon.

I have also tried coconut and castor oil treatments, but not so often as they are a bit gooey !!
I wonder if anyone has another good tip for nourishing hair ?
