I was surprised when I heard my voice after I was interviewed on Hailsham FM.
Do I really sound like that?!
When Simon, the Radio Presenter, invited me on his show to talk about my new books and our two Online Magazines, I was quite excited to see how everything worked.
Hailsham FM started as Hailsham Festival FM, broadcasting for a few days a year in 2013.
Ofcom granted them a full-time licence in 2018, which was renewed in 2023, at the same time as they moved to new premises in the town centre, in St Mary’s Walk.
Although it is a local station, it can be heard worldwide on Alexa or online.
All the presenters are unpaid, with ‘proper jobs.’

Simon was a great presenter. He asked me plenty of questions, and gave me time to reply.
He also carefully spelt out the names of my latest books, Fat Hope! and The High Weald Dairy Cookbook: Classic Kent and Sussex Recipes Updated.
Also our two Online Magazines, Unknown Kent And Sussex, and The Write Site, which I co-manage with Maria Bligh.
You can hear my radio interview on ‘Listen again.’

I had a lovely time and I hope that Simon invites me back another time.
No doubt I’ll see him at the Hailsham Festival in September, where I have a book stall.
