Some National Trust properties have a Christmas theme from now until January.
Scotney Castle’s theme is called Cover to Cover.
Author Christopher Hussey lived in Scotney and he collected over 6,500 books and each room is inspired by one of the books in Scotney’s collection.
The Study is Agatha Christie, the Library is Kipling’s Jungle Book, the Dining Room is Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol.
And so on, through the Castle.
I loved the trees made of piles of books. I’ll be trying that at home.
The original Medieval castle is down the hill. It has a moat round it, which is said to be haunted.
And apparently it was deliberately partly demolished to make it look old when the Victorian mansion was built. Shame.

Scotney Caste is a lovely place to visit. Wander round the 780 acre estate grounds. But sadly they are desperately short of volunteers to run the place, so some of the rooms were closed.
So if you know someone with some time on their hands who have a love of history, ask them to contact Scotney.
