Big Bear

Three up

Continuing the repair of our soft toys saga…..

When Siddhartha was a baby, John brought him a HUGE teddy bear. He rode his BMW through the suburbs with the bear in front of him and got many a bewildered stare!!

When he got home, we put baby Sid on the bike with him and took a photo.

47 years later, and Big Bear is once again on a bike – this time a Husqvarna.

Sid has grown a bit since then, and now stands at 6ft 8 ins!!

Ready to ride

Big bear became the ‘Daddy’ of all his soft toys and they were all piled up at the bottom of his bed for many years.

When Sid was 13 we moved to the valley, and Big Bear lived in Sid’s cabin bedroom through school and college days.

When he left home, and over the next decade, we built bigger cabins and that small cabin became more of a storage area. Toys were resigned to boxes and forgotten until now.

The soft toys were in much need of TLC and I have shown you most of the ones I have washed and restored. Some will go to be companions to the handicapped children in the valley. Others, more personal will have pride of place in the house again.

Big bear emerged, looking sad and very badly damaged by the rats.

Sad Bear

I wasn’t quite sure how to fix him, but found some false fur and a curved needle which did the trick. Some felt, and a bow and he looks happy again.

Happy Bear

When I get back after my Summer sojourn, i plan to upgrade his other pads.
