Our New Writer: A Lewes Lass in South Africa

Entering Lewes

Introducing a new addition to our writing team…

My name is Miriam Brenda Erasmus – MBE for short, which always gives me a thrill!

Lyn (Co-Editor of this very magazine) and I have known each other since we both attended Wallands Primary School in Lewes in the 50s.

I was born ‘on the Downs’ in 1948, and my heart has always been in those glorious hills.

The Downs

Wherever I have lived, it has been on a hill, and now, in my dotage, I live in The Valley of a Thousand Hills in KwaZulu Natal in South Africa.

View from my Front Door

I would like to tell you about my life and travels.

On my old passports it said “Singer”, now it says “Retired” but I still enjoy singing my way around the UK on my Summer Tours.

Thanks to this, I have been self employed most of my life. Fortunately my beloved, late husband, John was also very musical and we raised our children on the joy our music brought to others.

We entertained souls from the cradle to the grave. I will tell you more as we go along.

I am now a member of The International Travel Writers Alliance.

When John died last year, I was lost, as you can imagine.

Now, thanks to Unknown Kent And Sussex, I can share more of my life with you.

I am now 76 glorious years Young, and counting.

Until next time, it’s shoulders back, head held high and looking for the next adventure.

Love, always,

Miriam
